Michelle comes to us from Birmingham, Michigan, where she was born and raised. Michelle has been part of the swimming world since she was young. She started competitively swimming at age five.
While living in Michigan, Michelle was part of her high school varsity swim team all four years and was a state qualifier every year. Michelle also swam for her year round team, Birmingham Bloomfield Atlantis (BBA) which was coached by head coach, Bill Thompson. With BBA, Michelle was apart of the Sectional team three years in a row as well as a Junior National qualifier. In 2008, Michelle attended The University of Toledo, in Ohio, where she swam for a year. In October 2009 Michelle moved out to Colorado and started coaching for ACES.
Before coaching at ACES, Michelle coached alongside her father with the BAC Sharks. There she coached the developmental group, Fins, as well as the 9-10 age group.
As the Arapahoe Kings coach, Michelle likes to have versatility in her swimmers. She puts a strong emphasis on technique and developing good habits. As a coach, Michelle believes that all swimmers are capable if they really want it and put their mind to it. It is her goal for her swimmers to find what motivates them and do the best they can. Michelle is also an assistant coach for the Highlands Ranch Boys High School team and coaches alongside Christina Kwon. She started her first season with this team back in 2014. This year will be her 5th season with the boys.
Aside from coaching, Michelle is a barista at Starbucks. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her two dogs going hiking in the summer and snowboarding in the winter. Michelle has hiked eleven 14er's, eight of them being with her dogs. She plans to add more 14er's to her list!
